Patrick Mahomes has won three Super Bowls and lost two.
In 2021, after losing his second Super Bowl attempt, he was interviewed by Yahoo Finance Presents about building an empire.
He wanted to build not just a Kansas City Chiefs empire on the gridiron but also one off the field.“I am trying to build an empire off the field in every way,” 25-year-old Mahomes told Yahoo Finance Presents’ Brian Sozzi in April 2021. “I watch a lot of the great athletes that came before me, and they found ways to build their empire and to build themselves up off the field, so I’m trying to do that as much as possible.”
The Super Bowl MVP said his role models in business were NBA legend Michael Jordan, MLB legend Alex Rodriguez, and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.In 2020, when Mahomes won a Super Bowl for the Kansas City Chiefs after 50 years, he was rewarded with a historic contract: 10 years, $503 million.
He immediately purchased a minority stake in the MLB’s Kansas City Royals and then invested in the wearable device company Whoop.
