But Bruce Helford, the showrunner of Roseanne, isn’t giving up on Clooney just yet. “We’d certainly love to see George Clooney,” he said on a call with reporters ahead of the show’s season finale.
“I am not promising anything as far as that, but he was an important part of the show in the very beginning.”Helford said his team is doing everything they can to make sure David returns to the show, as his character has finally moved back to Lanford to be with his kids. “We certainly hope that Johnny Galecki will come back again as he has free time,” Helford said. “He wants to and we want to have him.”
And if there are any more beloved characters who haven’t popped back into the Conner family house yet, just be patient. “There are so many people who were wonderfully a part of the Conner family’s world,” Helford said, “and we are hoping to bring them back one at a time, so you can’t bring everybody at once.”But there’s one major star that the Roseanne producers couldn’t wrangle this time around: George Clooney.
Way back before he was a movie star, and even before he starred on ER, ClooneyRoseanne. From 1988 to 1991, he played Booker Brooks, the foreman at Roseanne’s factory, who dated Jackie.
But Clooney turned down the chance to appear in the revival series. “Well, George Clooney didn’t want to come on — so that was a bummer, but he lives in Italy,” Barr told Howard Stern
