Jason Mewes is setting the record straight on his comments – or rather, lack thereof – about the stage of friend Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s marriage. Read the full story in the link below.

“Maybe he’s busy working and she’s working and it’s too much with the kids,” added Mewes, 50, at the time. “I’m not saying that’s what it is — I don’t know — but why does it go right to they’re having trouble? Just curious.”

Speaking with PEOPLE on Tuesday, June 25, duringmovies with Affleck over the past 30 years, goes on to address Affleck and Lopez’s decision to live separately, with Lopez residing in the couple’s Beverly Hills marital home while Affleck stays in a rental a few miles away.

“If someone decides to rent [a] place [it] doesn’t mean they’re necessarily separating,” he says. “I know from having two kids, it’s like, sometimes you just need a break — especially if you’re like, ‘Hey, I’m going to be writing this script and I need just two weeks to focus.’ ”

“But yeah, no, I haven’t spoke to him,” Mewes adds. Amid buzz about tension in their marriage, Affleck and Lopez have both seemingly been focused on family and work, celebrating graduation milestones in his kids’ lives and more.
