: CD Tenerife Striker Jesús de Miguel Dies at 30 After On-Pitch Collision
Spanish football has been thrown into mourning after CD Tenerife confirmed the death of striker Jesús de Miguel Alameda on Tuesday morning, November 3, 2026.
The 30-year-old died at 8:00 a.m. at the University Hospital of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, a day after suffering a cardiac arrest following a devastating on-pitch collision.
The incident occurred in the 97th minute of Monday’s LaLiga 2 clash between Tenerife and FC Andorra at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López. With the score tied at 2-2, De Miguel was chasing a long ball when he collided with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono, who had rushed out of his area to clear the ball and struck the striker in the chest with his knee.
Medical staff treated De Miguel on the pitch for more than five minutes before he was taken away by ambulance. According to reports from Marca, he suffered a cardiac arrest in the ambulance and was revived by paramedics before being admitted to intensive care.
Referee Alejandro Quintero González showed Owono a straight red card and abandoned the match seven minutes into stoppage time.
In an emotional statement this morning, the club said:
“Racked with pain, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe that this is true, from CD Tenerife we communicate the tragic passing, this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., of Jesús de Miguel Alameda.”
Tributes have poured in from across LaLiga, with clubs including Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid posting condolences.
De Miguel, born in Madrid, joined Tenerife in 2024 and became a key figure for the island club.
