Music icon Kenny Loggins has filed a stunning $500 million copyright lawsuit against Donald Trump, accusing the former president of using his legendary hit song “Danger Zone” without permission in an AI-generated video mocking anti-Trump demonstrators during the recent No Kings Day March.
According to the lawsuit, the video — which circulated widely on social media — featured digitally altered footage showing protesters being ridiculed while Loggins’ 1986 hit from Top Gun played in the background. The clip reportedly used an AI-modified version of the song, prompting Loggins to take swift legal action for “unauthorized use, moral damage, and reputational harm.”
In his statement through legal representatives, Loggins said the misuse of his work was “deeply offensive” and that he “never authorized nor condoned” its political application. “Music should unite people, not be weaponized to humiliate them,” the statement read.
Trump, however, wasted no time firing back. Speaking on his social media platform, he called the lawsuit “a total scam and another attempt by Hollywood liberals to get attention.” He also denied involvement in creating or sharing the video, blaming “fake media and AI manipulation” for the controversy.
Legal experts say the case highlights growing concerns over AI’s role in copyright violations, especially as deepfake and AI-generated media become more sophisticated. If successful, Loggins’ suit could set a major precedent for artists seeking protection from unauthorized AI use of their intellectual property.
As the legal drama unfolds, one thing is clear — the “Danger Zone” just got a lot hotter, and both sides are digging in for a high-stakes battle at the intersection of music, technology, and politics.
